ABOUT CHLOE

Hi, I’m Chloe Hull, founder of Cotswold Equine Physio and a fully qualified veterinary physiotherapist. Horses and dogs have been at the heart of my life for over 35 years, and it’s that lifelong passion for their health and wellbeing that drives everything I do today.

After studying at Hartpury College, life took an unexpected turn when a family illness redirected my path. I went on to work as a professional groom at various top-level dressage, showjumping, and eventing yards, riding and caring for hundreds of horses along the way both in the UK and Australia - experiences that gave me invaluable insight into performance, management, and rehabilitation.

Years later, I returned to my first passion and completed my Level 6 Diploma in Animal Physiotherapy, before launching Cotswold Equine Physio to provide expert, evidence-based treatment.

As both a competitive rider and a therapist, I understand the highs and challenges of horse ownership. My approach is holistic: not just easing discomfort, but supporting long-term wellness, recovery, and performance.

Most importantly, I care deeply about every animal I treat - treating each horse and dog as if they were my own.

Scroll down to meet the horses who shaped my journey and inspired the therapist I am today. 🐎

Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Each one has taught me something different – from patience and resilience to the importance of biomechanics, correct management, and empathy. Below are the horses who have shaped my journey and ultimately inspired me to become a veterinary physiotherapist.

My Life in horses

Shanty

Where it began…

My very first pony, who taught me the basics — from rising trot to simply staying on! Shanty was where it all began when I was six.

In the photo I’m proudly wearing my Pony Club tie as a keen member of the North Cotswold Pony Club. Shanty’s favourite trick was hoovering up everything in sight.

Casper

Lead rein fun

Casper was my leading pony taking me into Hunter trials showjumping and pony club with my very competitive sister leading the way.

Casper had a tricky Veterinary issue that fascinated me at the time – one of the first sparks of my curiosity about equine health and performance.

Dan

A borrowed partner

I borrowed Dan while Dixie was out of action, and he helped me achieve my Pony Club B Test and compete at Area Eventing.

Easy and straightforward - the complete opposite of Dixie! I’m convinced I passed my B Test because the examiner put me on the whizziest horse, which suited me perfectly.

Spirit

Troubled soul

A bold jumper who could “clear the moon” but was unmanageable and showed me how behavioural issues can signal discomfort.

With hindsight, I believe he was in pain - and I wish I’d had the knowledge then to help him. That reflection still drives my work today.

SavaNnah

Sent from above

A filly who came to me shortly after my mum passed away, Savannah was very special. I backed her myself and competed her before she was sold to a show jump yard.

Earlier on, my mum and I bought feral ponies from Stow Fair to break in and sell, which taught me patience, resilience, and trust.

Bobble

A retired 3★ eventer

A true gentleman who I was lucky enough to ride while working at my last event yard.

Competing him at BD Elementary gave me invaluable experience on a seasoned schoolmaster and my first real insight into managing arthritis in a performance horse.

Dimond

A beautiful soul

An absolute gem who took me confidently through showing, Pony Club, and unaffiliated competitions. Always reliable and honest, he never put a foot wrong.

After riding plenty of cheeky ponies, Diamond was the easy-going partner I needed to rebuild my confidence and simply enjoy riding.

Ollie

Show Pony Loan

A fun, cheeky loan pony who introduced me to the world of mounted games, showing, jumping competitions and more pony club rally’s.

he was a whizzy little jumper with a serious buck – always keeping me on my toes and teaching me to ride with balance and determination.

Dixie

Complex mare

A talented but fiery mare with plenty of attitude! Dixie was my first proper competition pony and we competed in Pony Club area championships.

She was troubled and looking back I can see how much her behaviour hinted at deeper issues – an early lesson in the link between health and behaviour.

Benson

Cheeky Chap

My time with Benson was short, but memorable. He reminded me that every horse or pony, no matter how long they stay, brings something special to your journey.

Kind but strong, Benson loved to hunt — and I’d often come home with dead arms after a day out, completely unable to stop him!

MAC

My first horse

My first “proper” horse & dream partner - ultimately, the one who shaped my career path. After a suspensory injury, I spent hours each day walking and rehabilitating him.

Mac introduced me to the world of rehabilitation and therapy, and he is the horse who truly inspired me to become a physio.

Dolly

Gypsy Cob

My little cob who had previously only had a foal, Dolly took me hunting, eventing, and into hunter trials.

Most importantly, she introduced me to classical dressage — a foundation that still underpins my riding today and shaped my deep understanding of posture, balance, and correct movement.

Alongside my own horses, I’ve also had the privilege of riding and caring for hundreds more - from freelance as a groom to longer working positions, including time spent in Australia working on a stud and competition yard. Each horse, whether my own or one I’ve looked after, has added to my understanding and appreciation of the individuality of every equine.

From Shanty to Bobble, each horse has taught me something unique - about patience, rehabilitation, trust, and resilience. Those lessons now shape how I treat your horses: considering not just their immediate issues, but their story and the journey that has made them who they are.

Although I don’t currently have a horse of my own, I am still riding - and my journey with owning horses is far from over. Watch this space for the next chapter and my next partner in crime…
